I haven't heard the Take 5, but a friend of mine who is a drummer and pretty demanding in the bass area speaks very highly of it. Where did you hear them (i.e. store, home audition)? It may have been the setup causing the bass suck out.Another possibility is 5 NHT Super Zeros and an NHT sub. The SuperOnes would work well, but 5 of them would put you over budget.
