Since you are into technical stuff, I think you would be interested in the technical discussions at two sites related to HDTV. There are so many pretenders at the moment that don't really have even the potential for full HDTV capability. Please look at: http://www.e-town.com/; and http://www.DTVWeb.org/default.cfm. Some things needed in a pre/receiver are the ability to switch component digital inputs; true 96/24 adc capability, as well as the translators for the various formats you list. Right now the only projectors that are fully capable cost over $10,000. I don't need to try to give all the details since they are at the sites I have referenced.
