I sit 12 feet from a 32 inch Wega XBR set in my home, with excellent results, I originally wanted 36 or a 52, but larger sizes did not fit with speakers next to the TV. When the 32" arrived for aesthetic reasons I was glad I did not get the 36". They look a lot bigger in a home than in the showroom. That said I am sure a 36†would look great from 8’, When I play with my kid a few feet away form the screen the picture still looks terrific. Try for yourself at a dealer, be sure you set the TV to movie mode.
