Check out Yamaha. They have a quality reciever in every price range. Get a Pioneer,Toshibia or Panasonic DVD. You'll have Between $1,000 and $1,500 left for speakers. Speakers are a matter of taste. What ever brand you choose,make sure to demo them at home in your set up. This will save you unnecessary disappointment and regret.
Robert Harley wrote a good book on the subject. Can't remember the name but should be able to find at Barnes and Noble or Amazon if you search the author.
