I just went through the process. First item is what do you like to watch. If it is sports then the DirectTV has more programming in sports. If sports are not important then Dish is the way to go. Dish is less expensive, has better picture quality, is a company run by an individual that cares, has better hardware with the dish 500 and the dishplayer etc. I picked up a dishplayer a dish 500 a second receiver everything needed to install, shipping etc. and got back a dollar from dish for my efforts. I don't konw what happened to the forums today but the forums on the following are really good. There are goofs like myself as well as professionals on those boards. Go to the following.
