I auditioned the AVR3300 side by side with the Marantz SR7000 where it counts..at home.
Haven't heard the Yamaha's their 'bright' reputation was enough to scare me away.
Many characterize the Denon as 'warm'. I guess the definition of 'warm' can be a subjective thing but I found the Denon on the bright side. Very nice piece of equipment but too bright...for me.
The Marantz not quite so bright, the most musical I heard in that price range, IMO.
I went for an SR19, but the SR7000 & AVR3300 are both nice. Listen to make sure that there are no characteristics, sonic or otherwise, that may drive you crazy later. The wisest advice I ever got...base your decisions on the downside, don't let the charming upside fool you into getting the wrong thing.
