Thanks for your response! We all have our own opinions and I actually listened to the upper model, the VSX-27TX. While it was very easy to listen to, the Denon 3300, 4800, and the Yamaha RX-V2095 sounded much better to my ears. Everyone hears differently. What I noticed mostly about the Elite 27 was mainly in the midrange. To me, it just sounded mushy, compared to the others. The Denon 3300 sounded very good, but lacked the detail(possibly the dynamics in the higher midrange/lower treble) in the Denon 4800 and the Yamaha 2095. The Denon 4800 and Yamaha 2095 sounded "VERY MUCH ALIKE". They were the leaders in detail and clearity. While I heard very, very, VERY slight differences between the 2, the differences were to small to even pinpoint accurately. It could have been slight volume differences even. They amazingly sounded alike. I listened through Martin Logans(The AUES****?, they were $2500 a pair). The source player was Pioneer Elite's DV-05 DVD player. This auditioning room was the best I've seen, with computer aided A/B switching.
To say the least, I upgraded to the Yamaha RX-V2095. Of course, this is what I heard and my opinion, so you may not like either the Denon or Yamaha's sound. Take care.
