i've been using one since aug.99. i'm using it as a preamp with a 3 channel center and surround amp(rotel) and nad for the front 2 channels.
on its own i found home theater processing dull compared to yamaha 595a and denon 2700. i'm using a pioneer 525 dvd. with all the hype with the Matrix dvd i decided to investigate further since i wasn't enjoying the quality. i hooked up my old technics shac500 and the movie came to life. the center channel dialogue became more transparent and there was more bass from sub and center.
on 2 channel stereo the 5000 was better than the yamaha and denon.
if i had to do it all over i would not buy the sr 5000. if 24/96 audio is any interest to you make sure you purchase a receiver with a
24/96 dac and a dvd player which outputs the full signal.
