Re: Connection Question

Does the A1 have an input marked (something like) AC-3/RF or RF-Digital?

If so, what this means is that you'll indeed patch one digital cable from your LD player's digital out into the RF input. The A1 will then perform the D-A conversion, and give you the appropriate number of channels for ProLogic or 5.1 playback.

If the A1 does not have an RF decoder for LD playback, then you can use a pair of patch cords for analog. However, this is really not too great: you will only get a couple of channels, not nearly the surround presentation intended by the director. If this is the case, I'd urge you to investigate an outboard RF decoder: it will have one digital RF input, and 6 analog outputs, and goes between the LD player and your A1.

BTW, I think the A1 is a fine unit, great sound, good choice. I bet you saved a bundle over buying the latest/greatest, and you're not missing a heck of a lot in terms of sound.
