I prefer Yamaha because of the sound quality I get with movies during playback. Yamaha's DSP chips along with the software creates the sound I prefer vs. most receivers. Furthermore, I like the cosmetics of the receiver. Try them both out if you can. Denon does make nice equipment, and you may prefer it's sound with the speakers you are using. Furthermore, determine which features you prefer or need. Check out their websites.
