While I am not intimately familiar with this unit, it seems to be a top line as you compared it to some top line from others. No reason why it would not be fine for music as well. Sonic characteristics are over rated and can be traced to measurement problems such as channel inballance or frequency response problems, when there is a difference in rare cases.
