I have a Pioneer DV-09 and the CD playback is excellent. If you must, I'd think about adding an outboard D/A converter to your DVD player, such as a Bel Canto, even Bel Canto states that DVD players make awesome transports due to their memory buffer that eliminates jitter! You absolutely could not go wrong with such a combo. My DV-09 includes a converter that is dual 24 bit and legato link. www.pioneerelectronics.com and www.thx.com reveal some nice Pioneer DVD players, and the new ones are progressive scan and feature high end DA conversion. I recently added the DVD player and Loewe digital progressive scan TV and must say I am now getting the most out of my system, it really was the logical choice in progressing my system. I don't know why you'd want to create 2 systems, get the most out of both!
