I agree that under $500 you have to go with Onkyo. Specifically the 575X model. It has the best HT processing chips in this price range and probably as many bells and whistles as anyone. If you want something more musical and built like a tank with pretty good HT processing see if Outlaw has any B stock of their 1050 receiver. They go for $499 with full 2 year warranty.
