I don't use any light, the darker the better IMO. Then again, I'm using a front projector setup and it inherently prefers no ambient light. I did put a small 25watt red bulb in the one high-hat in the ceiling. This casts a nice red glow in the room which also happens to be painted a 'burnt peanut red' (maroon-ish) on the walls. It doesn't appear to affect the picture quality. Again though, this is all via a front projector.
