Recommendations on a HT Setup

131.107.3.72

Hi All,

I am currently in the process of setting up a pure home theater system. I do not care about 2 channel as I have a diff. setup for 2 channel music. Primary interest is HT, DPL, DD & DTS.

The components I am thinking of buying are :

Sony 50ES A/V Receiver.
Energy Take 5 system with e:XL8 subwoofer.

I already have the following : Toshiba TP61H95, Sony DSS, Panasonic 310 DVD player.

Any opinions/comments on the 50ES/Take5 would be appreciated. I auditioned the Take 5 in my friends place and was impressed with the sound quality. I thought it offered an excellent price/performance ratio. Reg. the 50ES, I am solely purchasing this based on reviews. I heard the Yamaha RXV795 but it does not offer S-Video switching which I am planning to use for DSS/DVD. I presume that component video switching is too much to ask for in this price range, so I am not even going to ask.

My local dealer is quoting $1000 for the 50ES and $799 for the Take5. These prices seems really high. I do know that it is much cheaper thru mail order. I would prefer if the mailorder co. for the Sony is an authorized one so I would get the 5 yr warrantee. I would appreciate it if someone could post some mailorder places where I could get a good bargain. Also, any info on mailorder experience would be welcome. I would not mind paying a bit extra for good customer service and delivery as promised.

Thanks in advance.
Jay.
