B&K ref. 30 vs. Anthem AVM2......a little long

209.74.93.15

Hello,

I am trying to add a home theatre to an existing two channel system. I have a dedicated room and am still very interested in maintaining top notch two channel sound.

I currently run:

Monarchy DT40A
Adcom GDA 700
Sonic Frontiers SFL1 Sig.
Classe 25
B&W N802

I think the best sonic option for now would be to run a processor through a tape loop on the SFL1. Locally both the AVM2 and ref 30 are available on order but cannot hear them in advance. Has anyone done any comparison shopping?

I am also considering running a B&K 307 receiver instead to save money on amplification but I think there may be real problems in balancing out the channels. Does anyone else have experience running a receiver through a two channel system.

For speakers I will probably go with N804's in the rear and NHTM-1 in the front.

I am concerned about the processors ability to do a true bypass on two channel so I am keeping my SFL1. Does anyone else use a HT processor for two channel stereo?

It is also worrisome that no units do 24/192. Will this not require another processor for DVD Audio?

The AVM2 uses Burr Brown PCM 1728 Dac's. Are these inferior to PCM 1704's?

I am sorry for the length of this query as well as it's scattered nature. Perhaps I should ask allot of smaller questions but as you can tell the issue is not straight forward.

Thank You in advance.

Michael Segal

BTW I am thinking a Sony DVP 9000es would provide top notch sonic and visual pleasure.
