All current dvd players will work. You will need a new surround processor or an add on devices suchs as like from smart devices that will give you the extra channels. Only few processors on the market have enough channels and those can be upgraded with a software change. But if you are like most and only have 5.1 channels you will need some new hardware. Either the smart devices or a new surround processor. Parasound also make an add on decoder. Of course you will need 2 more channels of amplification and another pair of surround speakers.
