My rationale for considering such a 'virtual' unit is that I can extend my 2-channel system to accomodate for home-theater without compromising on the quality of the pieces supporting HT. Let's say you have a first-rate 2-channel unit (your Plinus is such), and you don't want to have to spend the extra money to match the center/surround channels to the mains, this unit may serve such purpose. In my case, I'm not totally satisfied with the performance of my ML center speaker. I'd like to have my ML ReQuests pulling full duty for HT if I can help it. No, I have not heard it, but am seriously considering getting one home for extended audition...
