Several Questions - Purchasing Home

216.51.104.247

I've recently moved to the Dallas, TX area. I am currently in the home market. This being my first home purchase, I would like to make sure I get a home with a good layout for home theater.

Relevent facts:

-- We're looking at homes in the 2800-3200 sq ft size.
-- We have 3.6's for the front, a MGCC for the center, 1.5's for the rears and a Velodyne HGS-18 for the subwoofer (movies only).
-- Currently we have a 36" TV, but once we get the home, we plan on getting a front projection system (so we don't have any 'boxes' near the speakers, and the size will be nice, although we don't want to project a screen too large as to lose a good quality picture).
-- The design needs to sound good primarily from our couch which will be near the center of the room, if necessary for proper sound distribution.

With these pieces of information, I have a couple questions:

1. What dimensions of a living room would be 'ideal'?
2. What brands/types of front projectors should we be looking at? That's an area I'm not knowledgeable in. Our budget for a projector and screen is $8-10K. I understand there are CRT, DLP, and LCD technologies and that CRT's are out of my price range (plus I don't want to deal with all the maintenance).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Brian
