Replacing the S-Video socket on the Toshiba is a simple task. If your set is still under warranty, you should try and have it replaced- it is not a component that should "wear out" and may well have dry solder joints causing the problem.
If not under warranty, any reputable TV repair company should fix the problem for a call- out fee, minimum labor charge and a few dollars for the new socket if needed.
