Like everything in life, it depends. Certainly a poorly recorded DTS disk will not sound as good as a well recorded DD disk. Assuming comparable engineering, yes, DTS can sound more transparent. In the price range you mentioned, you'll certainly find examples of how it will sound different. But better? This is something you should judge for yourself. IMO, it's worth seeking out. Based on your moniker, I suspect you'll also find it of value.
