...I went with DirecTV and have been VERY happy with it. For what it's worth, I have a friend that has Dishnetwork and he is just as happy as I am. I would look at them both and decide which is best based on your individual wants...as for picture quality and sound I don't think you could go wrong with either compared to cable. I would compare both channel packages side by side...look at the cost for the channels you want, whether they both offer local channels in your area, etc. I've been told DirecTV is better for sports, DISH is better for movies. Also check out the receiver boxes for both, as they vary in features and ease of use...the Sony receiver/dish was one of the main reasons I picked DirecTV. Only you can really decide based on what's right for you. With either it will be WAAAAAY BETTER than cable!!!
