Sony's new XBR450 direct-view

Howdy,

Stopped by my local Tweeder last night to view Sony's 32" and 36" XBR400 models. I was informed they now sell the XBR450 (The XBR400 was the display model, but no longer in stock). Per Sony's XBR450 press release, http://64.35.93.160/pressrelease/166, The XBR450 will do 3:2 pulldown (XBR400 does not).
I was planning to get a Progressive scan DVD player which does 3:2 pulldown, so I don't think I need this feature with DVD's... However my primary source will be DSS (Dish network).
Q1) Will the new 3:2 pulldown feature improve DSS video source quality?
Q2) If I get this feature in the XBR450, do I need a progressive
scan DVD player?
