DVD+RW units?

Hi,
Has anyone heard anything about upcoming DVD+RW units? They
can record about 2 hours at DVD quality and 4 hours at
better than VCR quality. The disks can be played on any
DVD player or DVD-ROM currently out there. Last I heard
was that Philips was releasing a unit in September for
under $1000, and I think HP is releasing some PC drives at
about the same time. Does anyone know anything more up to date?
