Ahh stupidity... I 'by chance' noticed a small window in the various menus and turned to the owners manual for a bit of comprhension... The menu box was for 'center' channel enhancement in "on/off" and '1' '2' form. Well in '2' it really helps with movies that have multichannel sound. Still not quite as loud as other stuff but a lot better.
