I use a Yamaha DSP-E492 processor with a Pioneer DV-626D DVD player with built in Dolby digital & DTS decoders in my seperate amp/preamp music system- the Yamaha has a 3 channel amplifier for the center channel and surrounds, and 5.1 analog inputs for the feed from the DVD player, as does the DSP-E800 you mentioned. All things considered, I'm pleased with the result-DVD's sound fine, particularly those with DTS soundtracks, although I must admit I'm much pickier about 2 channel sonics than surround sound. I'd say give the Yamaha a try- at the very least it won't compromise your stereo performance.Regards,
Ken
