I have the 5000 and am amazed by it everyday. It could have deeper blacks but the picture clarity and color is the best, I believe, I've seen. It's cd quality is extremely high. I read a review (forgot where) that said you would have to step up to the $10,000 Meridian (cd player)to achieve any improvement over the 5000 in quality. Plus, if you haven't heard a hdcd yet I would HIGHLY recommend it before choosing a player. The new Dire Straits (Brothers)HDCD will blow you away on the 5000. The ability to plug into those Burr Brown DACs is nice too..
