You don't mention the audio portion. Start with the DVD and enjoy, but sonner or later you'll want to experience 6 or 7 channel sound and you can still do it inexpensively these days.2 main speakers (good quality monitors will do.
2 surround (lesser quality ones laying around will do nicely)
1 center (spend a little here, this needs to be full range)
1 powered subwoofer (spend as much as you want since a lot of effect is here)
1 receiver with Dolby Digital 5.1 (needs 5 amps)Enjoy!
