Thanks. This is a new suggestion; others have told me just to burn both VCD's and CD's directly off the computer. Your idea offers the option of getting a high quality CD-recorder to primarily use for audio CD's and doing the video via the PC. I do have a TV card on my PC, so now I just need to figure out how/if I can record shows on VCD format via software programs such as you mention and then burn them into VCD's on the free-standing CD-R.

I use different search engines than yahoo - I will now try that as well - another reason to say thanks.

Only one downer in all this: the http://www.convergent.com.sg/studioVCD.htm
URL doesn't work. I tried the yahoo search and found it myself, and it is correct, yet I can't connect. Nevertheless, you have steered me towards a direction I was unaware of before.
