Faroudja DV-1000 -remote dead...?!

Dear fellow videophile,

My Faroudja DV-1000 stopped responding to it's remote. (Or should I say the remote stopped working?)
As far as I know this is a Toshiba remote, and it is batteryless.
Is there perhaps batteries in the unit itself?

How can I get the remote going again?
