I live in Northewest Florida (panhandle) and live with daily thunderstorms from late spring through the summer months. I recently installed a Sony DSS system and have not experienced any problems whatsoever. The signal strength normally reads 88-90, and during thunderstorm activity or overcast skys, it may drop to 85, with no degrdation in picture quality whatsoever. I should have done this a long time ago. Go for it.
