I do agree that the center channel speaker quality is very important, I do not see a problem with this idea if your amp will handle a 4 ohm load. I don't understand the idea that the 2 would interfere with each other (unless impedence drops too low for amp). Stacking Advent speakers tweeter to tweeter was popular 20 years ago with great results. I do believe it is better to have matching brands of fronts and center if possible. The idea is to match tonal qualities. Make sure your amp will handle the load. Give it a try. However if you had them laying around it is probably because they were not as good as some others which took their place. BTW I've been running a pair of Infinity 2000's with Adcom amps for 2 years in this configuration with no problem .
