When DVD came out I was bitten with the itch...I was an early adaptor, and bought a 1st generation player. At that time, after extensive auditioning of players from different manufactures, I came to the conclusion that in terms of picture quality there were DVD players and there were Sony DVD players. The Sony just had a better picture with WAY less digital artifacts then the other brands. Now for my question... Is this still the case, or have the other manufactures caught up. Also, has Sony gotten better since? I am thinking of dabbling in cheap DVD-A or SACD and am wondering if the picture quality of one of these new players will make me want to throw away my Sony 3000 DVD player? What is you opinion?
