use lens cover or any thing that can cover it. there is no grid test mode build in i have a vhs tape that use to set up the projector with grid and a manual to set up move the individual grid line can be done by the convergence key board located on the top right of the projector but if it to far off to aligment the three red blue and green line then you need to adjust at the crt neck of the tube next to the yoke clam. rotate the two magnets look like two little handle that stick out at the neck of the crt tube will move the grid line
