I read your posts below and they are helpful, thanks. So, let me ask you this: Do widescreen tvs have a vertical black-bar option so that when you are watching regular cable the picture in not distorted? If so, is there a rule of thumb on how it decreases the perceived size? I am being offered a Sony 36" widescreen..if there are black bars while watching Cable signal is that equvilent to whatching, say a 34" TV???
Thanks agin, jb
PS I am a DVD type, have been for a long time. I prefere, strongly perfer, to whatch a flick in its orginal aspect ratio..black bars on my 29" Proton are better then full srceen to me..
