Ok folks, I'm a bit of a rookie and I need help. I've got a DVD, CD, VCR and A/V Reciever all hooked up and it worked pretty well. I'm looking to upgrade my TV to HDTV and widescreen. While I was shopping, I was told by the salesperson that my standard RCA video, l audio and r audio connections would not produce the Dobly 5.1 sound properly. Is it necessary to have a Dolby 5.1 output from your device to your reciever to get the full effect?I also would like to use the optical o/p from my CD and the digital coax from my DVD, but I can't get the signal passed through my receiver. Is it true that all the audio and video is contained on the digital coaxial line? What am I doing wrong? I did all the set ups on my Pioneer VSX-309 for the optical and coax, but nada!
Randy
