I own a JVC HR S9600U - their top of the line consumer SVHS deck, at the time I bought it. I'm fairly pleased with it, especially since I watch mostly old tapes, as half of my viewing material (DVDs are the other half). Therefore, I'm considering purchasing the HR S9900U. (BTW, I can still get the 9800. Since it has a higher list price than the 9900, I was wondering whether any features or quality was lost, from the 9800 to the 9900.)My only real complaints are that the transport is sluggish (much worse than an older, VHS JVC deck, I have) and the loading mechanism feels cheap and is picky about how I insert tapes (here's another area where the older JVC VCR is much better).
Is there anything else, out there, that's worth considering? Does anything have similar processing features as the high-end JVC decks?
Thanks
