I'm distracted by smearing of the picture - sort of multiple images when a hand or object moves quickly. However this does not seem to be consistent.Last night it was very bad on a laserdisc (via the HLD-X9) so, after finishing looking and listening to the opera, I put on something else with a view to seeing if there was an adjustment (among the countless ones available) on the Barco VSE 40 switcher/enhancer which could help.
But, lo and behold it was far less visible on the second LD. It was still there slightly but was not distracting. And on further thought I realised it was not very apparent on most video, PAL and NTSC whether it be from LD, DVD, VCR (home recorded) or direct broadcast. Yet it is evident on some material, especially if the lighting conditions are dull.
So, is it a software problem rather than a hardware one?
The VSE 40 is quadrupling the signal and it is being projected on a Barco 808s to a 112 inch wide Stewart screen. On good software, from all sources listed above, the picture is stunning but any deficiencies are magnified, sometimes to an unwatchable degree.
Any explanations or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
John
