s-video noise lines with receiver

Hello,
I am seeing two cycling, wavy noise lines on my TV when I connect it like this via s-video cables:
Proscan DVD player --> Marantz SR5000 AV receiver --> Mitsubishi 31" TV
However, the noise lines disappear if I connect the DVD player directly to my TV. I have tested all of my s-video cables by individually connecting them from DVD to TV and each one seems to work.
I am planning to connect a new digital cable box with s-video as well, and my receiver has multiple s-video inputs so I thought I could use them instead of getting an s-video switchbox.
What am I doing wrong?
