Save my friend from Bose

My mtn. bike buddy is threatening to buy a Bose system.
He has 2000.00 to spend on a rig.
It would be a receiver and speakers.
I know nothing about video.Except how
to turn on my tv.And sometimes when I'm drunk
I can't hardly do that.
So,you loonies.If you had two Gs to piss away
on a set up what would you reccomend?
