Wall mounting kits

205.144.50.1

Several months a go I purchased a 42 inch NEC flat screen to watch Hogans Heros on. One of the problems of buying from the grey market is the lack of accessories. One accessory in particuler was the wall mounting kit. So I popped online to get a price and was shocked that they wanted $300 for hardware to mount it on the wall and around $250 for a table or floor stand! Way way too much money. So for the pass several months it is been sitting on the stereo cabinet leaning against the wall.

So anyway, yesterday I am walking through the bedroom and glanced at the bookshelf over Le spouses computer. It is one of those Elfa shelfs that have one bracket with a 'V' shape to the bottom that you hang two or more rails(with a matching 'V' notch) off of to put the shelf supports. I looked at the 4 shelfs of books just hanging there and realized that the shelfs held a lot of weight( the monitor weighs 70 lbs). I took one row of books down and place them on the bathroom scales. 48 lbs, and I had 4 rows up there, nearly 200 lbs! A quick trip to home depot, for $17 worth of shelf supports, screws, and lag bolts and I had a wall mount kit for the TV. A hole in the wall behind the unit to feed the wires into and I am done.
