My wife was home watching my new set when the volume bars appeared on their own, and ran themselves up to max. She fought it with the TV volume control, but it kept happening. Once she turned the set off, it stopped, but the speakers now had an annoying white noise hiss behind the audio signal.I tried everything I could think of. The noise even came through when there was no signal coming in to the set.
I sent it away (still under manufacturers' warranty), where they kept it for a month and an half, and told me it tested "fine" and that there was nothing wrong with it.
In transit they busted the panel door off, scarred the hell out of the housing, and, when I hooked it back up, guess what? White noise.
Tweeter so kindly offerred to send someone to take it away again to fix the door, but said Panasonic's warranty didn't cover "in house repair" which would be the only way to totally rule out an input problem vs. a problem with the set wouldn't it?My question: has anyone else had a similar problem with this set? What tests can I do at home (beyond what I already did)to rule out the cable?
Interestingly, I was watching a videotape straight through the TV and the appropriate volume level was lower than needed with the digital cable.
