Been with DirectTV and Tivo for almost 2 years now. Moved to a new house, and had a truly terrible exprience with a DirectTV installer. Since I'd kept cable for my internet access, I called them and asked what deals they were running for Direct TV customers. I was really impressed with their fees, and so I switched. So, now I'm re examining my PVR needs. Would appreciate any thoughts on TiVO vs. Replay for a cable TV setup. I'm interested in cost, upfront and monthly, and truly useful features.
Useful - recording recording times have increased significantly, up to 320 hours.
Not useful - ability to save photos, and e mail recordings over the net to another PVR.
Not available - ability to record two shows simultaneously (except on Direct TV with the Ultimate TV).
I also see that upfront costs have increased significantly. You can spend upwards of $1,500 on a 320 hour Replay, with the activiation fee factored in.
Thoughts & opinions would help me.
