Hello,I have just purchased a strata III, have set it up yesterday, and realized a really strange thing.
I have wrote Rel a week ago to ask if having High AND Low connected simultaneously would cause a proble, The answer was no, as you have separated levels the two can be used without having to unplug the low level cables when listening to Stereo source.
I have Rel booklet in front of me, and it says page 7 :
You can connect High and low simultaneously if you wish…Two paragraph belows, it says “The LFE input should be disconnected when playing CDs and other stereo source.
Let me tell you, I am bit confused...
So much confused that it goes to the real question.
My setup is preamp (5.1) and amp. I have the High levels plugged in the amp as shown in Fig2 of Rel's manual (OUT : two wire to ++ of L&R and the black wire to one of the -. IN : unbalanced), and a Y cable coming from the .1 output of my pre-amp.
When I play straight stereo (bypassing all electronics), don’t ask me why, my 5 speakers are playing… Unplugging the low input makes it stop. Is it normal ? any way to solve that and maintain pure stereo without having to plug unplug the low levels, as said by one of Rel’s rep ?
Overall I am really impressed by the sub sound, but I feel a little tricked as the one point I am facing now was the only one I have asked prior to buy.
If anyone could help or telle me "that's normal, you're tricked man, you gotta have to plug unplugged until death" I will :)
Regards, and thanks for any help
