home theatre into two channel

66.185.38.8

Hello all - I am beginning to gather information regarding adding a home theatre system to a 2 channel set up and I have some questions. I have a relatively high end 2 channel system (innersound eros speakers, luxmman turntable, grace tonearm, dynavector cartridge, lehman black cube phono preamp, batvk5ipreamp, levinson 331 amp, muse 9 signature cd/dvd player) and would like to add home theatre to it. I am considering a 7.1 channel system as opposed to a 5.1 channel system. I am not able to add more innersound speakers due to the waf (wife acceptance factor), so I will not be able to match speaker timber etc. up perfectly. In fact, in order to achieve acceptance, I will have to place the side and rear channels on the wall near the ceiling. My questions are two fold. One, is it better to have direct radiating speakers for the rear and side speakers, dipoles, or surround speakers? Two - I would greatly prefer to add an all in one receiver with five amplifiers to handle the home theatre portion - with the five channles in the receiver driving the rear, side, and center channels while the existing stereo levinson amp drives the front left and right channels. Does anyone know of an all in one home theatre receiver with five channels which would allow a configuration where an outside amp drives the main left and right channels? Most of what I have found allows an outside amp to drive the rear channels. Thus, I may end up having to go with a pre/processor and separate five channel amp. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks -
