Geometry problems for flatscreen tv

I have been considering upgrading my 20" JVC tv to a larger set. Using it just for watching dvds. I was thinking about going either with a 25" or 27" (anything else would be too big, eyes are about 6.5 ft from tv screen). Considering a flatscreen, but I keep reading references to 'geometry problems'. Can anyone enlighten me as to what that means, and whether it is something to dissuade me from a flatscreen altogether?

Thanks!
