What is the Best AV Reciever I can get for under $700

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I have been looking at the Yamaha RX-V1300 (and 740> I have heard )the sound a bit bright
Denon AVR 2803 Heard all good stuff about them. They have a darker sound.
The Harmon Kardon AVR325 and 525. Heard they can sometimes run hot.
I am a college student the loves quality gear (but don't want to stop eating b/c of I big purchase). I have a good ear and want something that I will enjoy for future years to come.
Ideally I would like to spend around $500
