Audio only Preamp/Processors

In searching for a new display monitor to replace my 12 year old directview TV, I have noticed that most of the units out there now have multiple component, s-video, composite, and now even DVI inputs, many with their own color setting memories, and even dedicated input selector buttons on the remotes (as opposed to one input switching selector).
Since the best PQ from each different video source would be a direct feed to the monitor, using the multiple inputs, seems like the time has come for a high quality audio only pre/pro. Any comments?
