need help of tv

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I was lucky enough to have a power surge go through my house and blow out my old tv. It was a Mitsubishi 55" that was about 5 years old. The insurance company told me they will pay up to 3 grand. Looking at what's out there, I need some help. What are the current recommendations for this price range?
Some info about my system. I have a parasound 120 X 5 amp, hooked into a Rotel surround processor. The room is about 16 by 18, and the 55" was just about right in size. I watch about 50% movies, with 25% tv and 25% sports on it.
Can anyone give some recommendations?
