Who makes the best low-end 42" plasma EDTV?????

As prices edge towards the mid-2,000 point, I'm getting ready to make my move. I don't know that I'm willing to wait for Panasonic to hit that price point, however (clearly the best EDTV that I've seen; love that 3000:1 contrast ratio).
So what's the best low end set?? Gateway, Samsung, Daewoo, ViewSonic?? How about the Akai at Costco?
